What Type of Shaving Brush is Best?

The main difference in shaving brushes is the bristles and more specifically, what they are made from. There are synthetic bristles and animal hair bristles. The synthetic bristle brushes have come a long way. They are pretty amazing. Animal hair or more specifically, Badger hair used to be the top of the line shaving brush.

I have synthetic fiber, badger hair and horse hair shaving brushes. My favorite shaving brushes are the synthetic. The synthetic bristle brushes are soft yet stiff enough to get enough soap to create a nice thick lather. And no other shaving brush feels as soft on your skin as the synthetic and specifically the Edwin Jagger and GBS shaving brushes. These 2 shaving brushes are excellent and much nicer than animal hair. The horse hair brush is too soft and makes it hard to create a good lather. The badger hair brushes are too stiff or coarse. They tend to scratch my skin.

Best Shaving Brushes in 2020

Shaving brushes come in different sizes and bristle material, from boar hair to badger hair to synthetic fiber. They are soft and help prepare your face for shaving. There is no better way to start your morning then by whipping up a warm, fresh smelling soap lather and whisking it onto your skin. Better than fresh coffee?

I have both badger hair and synthetic fiber shaving brushes. The badger hair brushes are more expensive but not by much. The synthetic bristle brushes have come a long way. They are fantastic and very soft. It’s really hard to tell them apart. The synthetic brushes hold quite a bit of water and make a lather as thick and rich as any badger brush. I actually like the synthetic shaving brush more.
